2014 GCHF PREVIEW: Louisiana Dynasty's Hidden Gems
As the 2014 edition of the Gulf Coast Hoop Fest rapidly approaches, we are going to be updating this portion of the site with some quick short previews of some of the more under the radar guys that will be put on that national map after they put in work in Biloxi.
The Louisiana Dynasty 17U team has had a lot of success on this young grassroots season, winning the Battle of the South event in Jackson, MS and making it to the finals of the Big Shots Dallas Final Four event. Two of the main reasons are Jacob Evans and Christion Thompson.
Jacob Evans is a 6'5 2015 SG from St. Michael the Archangel in Baton Rouge, LA. Evans is a bruising physical specimen that has major blowup potential playing under Coach Quannas White's tutelage. He was also listed #5 in the Times Picayune Flashy 15: Class of 2015 Rankings. Schools from the highest levels are beginning to take notice as LSU, South Carolina, UAB, Houston, Lousiana Tech, Lousiana Lafayette, and West Virginia have all started actively recruiting him. That list will get longer before it gets shorter, especially if he keeps attacking the rim like this LINK .
Right now Christion Thompson is less heralded than his teammate but that is only because he hasn't had a chance to shine on a big stage yet. The 6'5 2015 SG from Dutchtown HS in Gonzales, LA possess a quality that is highly desirable to coaches at all levels...he can absolutely drill it beyond the arc. Thompson was First Team All District 5-5A this past season in Louisiana. His current list is South Carolina, Houston, Richmond, Tulane. If he can torch the nets in Biloxi, you can bet more schools will jump in and those schools previously listed will start to sweat.
Look forward to seeing these two prospects do what so many players did last year at the Gulf Coast Hoop Fest, and ELEVATE their profile!

ROMALAS WALKER is a Rising Talent

Romalas Walker is a super speedy 5’9 PG out of New Orleans, LA. Walker is currently finishing out the school year at Carver High School, but has expressed to us his plans to transfer to Landry Walker High School. Walker is also the starting PG for the Louisiana Dynasty coached by Quannas White.
The Louisiana Dynasty is one of the most talked about travel teams this summer, as they have so many great prospects like Walker. We got our first chance to watch Walker and the Dynasty this past weekend at the Bob Gibbons. Romalas caught our eye right away with his great speed. He has a great handle and really shows great burst out of his moves. He always moved at a fast pace, but never seemed sped up. We were impressed with ability to finish in the paint being so small. We watched him play against top ranked E1T1 the second game, and he was still able to dribble anywhere on the court that he pleased, but struggled knocking down shots.
Offers/Interest : ULM, Troy, Texas St, Citadel, UAB, Memphis. With the success the Dynasty is having this summer we could see Walker stock continue to rise.

2015 Louisiana Dynasty (LA) guard Christon Thompson does a good job of shoot it and beating his defender off the dribble. Holding strong perimeter skills, and being a good slasher and passer, Thompson caught the attention of many college coaches this weekend. UAB is recruiting him the hardest, and is the only school to offer along with Richmond. Interest is coming in from Tulane, Texas Tech, Mississippi State and Louisiana Tech. The Louisiana native hopes to visit Texas, Texas A&M and UAB in the future.
